Despite the Senate Banking Committee’s partisan approval today for Kathy Kraninger to serve as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, she has plenty of detractors.

Kraninger, 43, has never worked in consumer affairs, financial services or as a financial regulator. She also never held public office or run a government agency.

Some have criticized Kraninger for her role in the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance immigration policy that recently separated families.
