A request for input from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s acting director about how to best protect consumers is troubling to at least one consumer advocate.

On Wednesday, CFPB Acting Director Mick Mulvaney issued a notice indicating he was launching a review of the bureau’s entire operation.

"In this New Year, and under new leadership, it is natural for the bureau to critically examine its policies and practices to ensure they align with the bureau’s statutory mandate," he said.
