The head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau faced hostile Republicans lawmakers who are anxious to see his ouster at a committee hearing.

Richard Cordray, who is the director of the CFPB, was questioned on Wednesday by members of the House Financial Services Committee.

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), chairman of the committee, told Cordray he was surprised to see him given rumors about his aspirations to run for Ohio governor.
