NTXAMP COMMUNITY OUT REACH & CHILDREN’S MEDICAL CENTER

Despite not being a billion dollar organization with really deep pockets and scores of wealthy donors, about two years ago, The North Texas Association of Mortgage Professionals decided that there must be something that we can do to give back to our community. And, we decided to support Children’s Medical Center. After all, who better to help out than children who are in the hospital – some with a broken bone – and others who are dealing with life threatening illnesses.

We would like to share with you some information as to why Children’s Medical is such a special place – why we chose it, and why we hope that you too will support Children’s Medical Center.

As with any company or organization, the culture of the company or organization in rooted in their beliefs and core values. Children’s Medical is a “not for profit” hospital – with the belief that NO child will be denied medical care because the family cannot pay. By comparison, what is the first thing your doctor asks for upon you arriving for a visit? Answer – How are you going to pay and / or who is your insurance company? If you say no money and no insurance – well, good luck. Not so at Children’s Medical. No Child will be turned away because the family cannot pay.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Children’s Medical has grown in to the largest provider of pediatric care in North Texas and the fifth-largest pediatric health care provider in the United States. More than 1,000 physicians in more than 50 pediatric sub-specialties deliver services at Children’s Medical Center’s two full-service Texas campuses in Dallas and Plano, a Specialty Care Center in Southlake, and 15 primary care “MyChildren’s” locations. Children’s was the first pediatric hospital in Texas to achieve Level 1 Trauma Center status and is the only teaching facility for the next generation of pediatric physicians in North Texas through its affiliation with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Just how important is this to our community? In 2012, approximately 215,000 children made more than 675,000 patient visits to a Children’s facility. Children’s Medical is the only pediatric safety net hospital in the region – caring for all children.

While NTXAMP cannot help each and every child, we can make a difference for as many children as possible. That is why, through the collection of stuffed animals, Playdough, Legos, cash donations, and such, we want to make sure that when a child comes out of surgery, or is in the hospital at Christmas, he / she has a stuffed animal or toy waiting for them.

Thank you to all of our NTXAMP members for giving to the kids – the patients of Children’s Medical Center. Won’t you join us?
