The slot left open when the outgoing Consumer Financial Protection Bureau director promoted his chief of staff to lead the agency has been filled by a House staffer.

When Richard Cordray left his position as CFPB director in November 2017 to pursue a gubernatorial run in Ohio, he appointed Leandra English CFPB deputy director.

English, who is currently suing for control of the bureau until a permanent director is confirmed, was promoted from her role as the director’s chief of staff.
