A residential lender out of St. Louis that was at the center of a bitter divorce has ended operations and could be forced out of receivership.
American Equity Mortgage was founded in 1992 by Ray Vinson and Deanna Daughhetee. At the time, the couple were still married.
The company became locally known through Vinson’s radio ads promoting the firm’s phone number, “eight-seven-eight-ninety-nine ninety-nine,” in his twangy voice.
